Comforted by a Robin

Every time I see a robin sitting on a tree branch or standing on a green lawn, I think about how God used a robin to comfort me. One day in 2017, I came to work late because I had ran some errands, and I was sitting in my car to kill time. I was also trying mentally prepare myself before I went inside the building.

During this time, I was dealing with feeling alone and felt like I was not able to connect with genuine people at this particular office. In addition, I was quiet, kept to myself and did not interact with other co-workers unless it was work related. As a result, some of the workers seemed to have a problem with me keeping to myself and would make negative comments. If I stayed late to finish my work, some of them had a problem with that. I wasn’t trying to be a show-off or make myself look good; I just wanted to get my work done so I would not have to worry about things spilling over into the next day. The crazy comments would consist of statements like, “Something’s wrong with her,” or “something’s not right about her.” My desire to get my work done was ridiculed.

While I sat in my car, I imagined giving some of those workers a piece of my mind. I did not feel like being bothered with any nonsense that day. But I knew that I really didn’t want to curse anyone out, so I prayed to God and asked Him to help me. A few minutes later, I noticed birds flying around in the parking lot. After that, I heard a noise, looked to my left, and was surprised to see a robin standing on my driver’s side mirror. The robin looked at me as if to say, “Are you okay? Is everything okay?” I felt a sense of comfort as if God was “speaking” to me through that robin. After that, I was able to go inside my office, complete my work, and make it through the day with peace in my spirit.

I thank God for giving me strength and comforting me that day. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you;be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (KJV). If you’re facing a difficult situation, bring it to God and ask Him to help you. He hears the prayers of the righteous and rescues us when we’re in trouble (Psalm 34:17 KJV).

  1. Evette, That is a beautiful story! You might be more of an introvert, like me. Sometimes people misunderstand our personality. Sometimes God puts us in a situation we don’t like or understand. You are a light in a dark world (even if you don’t feel like it). I realize this is an old post but I will pray for you. I hope you are well. Sending prayers and hugs your way, Cindy 🙏 🤗 💕

    1. I’m doing good, Cindy 🙂 I’ve been really busy with work but I miss blogging and checking out everyone’s posts. How have you been? Yes, I would describe myself as an introvert. And yep the Bible does say that we are the light of the world. I appreciate your comment and encouragement! Take care 🙂
